DAY 160

Karson is starting to talk a little. He is most alert right before he goes to bed and we think it is one of the medications that we give him to get his sleep patterns back to normal. He answers our questions which is huge because that means that his brain is making the connection. He has said three words: yes or yah, Hi and the most important "Mom". Now he doesn't do it every time you ask him, but he does it sometimes which is amazing. It is so nice to hear his voice that most of the time I just cry. He is now very emotional when we leave, which is so hard. He gets very frustrated now and hollers at times. In fact, when I leave the room to go to the nurses station for something, I can hear him clear down the hall. I can't wait for the day that we can bring him home. When he is answering questions, we ask him so many things. He remembers most of you visiting. Thank you so much for keeping him company through this ordeal. We have an appointment with his neurologist on Friday morning to go over his meds again and hopefully that will aid in him waking up a little more. He is still very stiff so we are thinking that a baclofen pump might help to ease those muscles. His new splints for his hands and arms seem to be helping quite a bit. He isn't as stiff in his arms and hands as he used to be. The U of U will see him on September 22 to see if he can go to their incredible rehab. He will have appointment with them sooner if one comes available. All your prayers and support are certainly working, even it is very slow process. Good things come to those who wait.
