DAY 137
Karson had a very big day yesterday. He traveled over to Payson, by ambulance, to the hospital to meet with a pulmonalogist (sp)to see about his trache. The doctor said that he was going to downsize Karson's trache to a 4 for a couple of days and if he does well with that, then he was going to button his trache for 3 days and if he does well with that, then he was going to take the trache out next week. I am so excited for Karson to have come this far. When the accident happened, they didn't think that he would ever be able to remove the trache. Karson went outside yesterday for the first time in his new wheelchair. His Dad and I wheeled him over to the Physical Therapy place right across the street. He met with an occupational, speech and physical therapist and will be having therapy from these three people three times a week. He was very tired when we got him back to the Provo Rehab but I could tell that he felt that he had accomplished a lot in one day. I am getting to read Karson pretty well even though he can't talk yet. We have an appointment in the morning with his neurologist so that he can change some of his medications. They took a blood culture yesterday when we got back to see that his infection wasn't coming back because he has been acting like he doesn't feel well again. I praying that he stays well so that we can move him forward with therapy. Thanks for all your cards, blog comments, books, food and prayers that continue to send our families way. You are all, so much loved, by all of us.

ReplyDeleteKarson,
ReplyDeleteYou must be doing well, cuz I stopped by to see you and you had gone in your fancy new chair across the street for therapy. That must be amazing after more than 4 months in bed to take a ride in the chair outside to go to physical therapy.
I know therapy is a LOT of hard work, but with your fight and determination, I KNOW that you will ante up to the task and take advantage of the great therapy available over there. (I am in front of the TV right now, and Coach Whittingham is talking about the UTES 1st day of practice today, and that what he is looking for most in his players right now is a good attitude and a willingness to work hard -so no wonder you are such a crazy UTE fan!)
Keep up the hard work Kars -I'll have to check with your mom to find out when your sessions are so I can catch you while you are in your room.
Love ya,
Lynette
Each day is a victory!
ReplyDeleteKarson,
ReplyDeleteGrandma and I had so much fun with your mom and sisters. We took Aunt Claudia to a play up at Sundance for her birthday. Your mom is the most amazing person that I have ever met. There are no words to describe her. She is constantly giving to others and is a perfect angel on earth. I love her so much. It was great to see you today. We want you to know that you are thought of by many who are constantly praying for you.
Love you,
Aunt Lana
Karson,
ReplyDeleteCheck your blog every day. Love to read the progress reports. No doubt you've heard by now about the overtime opener last night with the Titsburg Pussycats. Can't think about U Football without thinkin' 'bout you cheerin' 'em on. Teams got a spirit ... like your's ... undefeatable. Hope to get down and see you again soon. 'Til then ... I remain ... yer ol' buddy,
Steve
