DAY 127
Karson has had a busy week this week. The doctor that we took him to thought that he had this disease where the bones fuse together because Karson is becoming so stiff. Karson had x-rays and didn't have the disease, thank the good Lord, because the only way to fix the problem is the cut the extra bone that grows away through surgery and it is long and painful. After his testing, they knew that botox would be successful so they injected botox all through Karson's hands and arms so that it won't be so painful for him. It should start taking effect today and last for 3 to 4 months. He also got doctors orders to have physical therapy at a place that we have been trying to get him in and orders to have a speech therapist work with him. I feel that his trache is close to being taken out. He has a strong cough, can swallow on command, and has had his trache buttoned for every day for 8 hours or more. The speech therapist will get him used to having something in his mouth again and teach him how to swallow it without inhaleing it into his lungs. All in all, Karson is making progress and doing great. He is working very hard to get back on his feet. We all know that these things take time which we have plenty of. We love you all and appreciate all your continued support.

Karson,
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to read the post today when we got home and find that you are still working hard to make progress. We were in Fish Lake for the weekend and I was thinking about you a lot. I've been making a book for grandma with pictures from all of our family reunions and Christmas parties. I found some priceless pictures of you with your sisters and cousins. What fond memories. You were the cutest little boy that I have ever seen. Keep up the good work. We love you so much.
Love,
Aunt Lana
