DAY 117
Karson has improved enough to be moved back to his room at the Provo rehab. He has two different antibotics that is given to him by I.V. He will be on these strong medications for a 10 day regime. We are hoping that this will kick the infections for a long time so that we can start working on waking the brain up a little more. Karson was really glad to be back in his room at the rehab. The staff at the rehab gladly welcomed him back and I know that he recognized the voices. At the hospital, we did a swallow test. The speech therapist colored the ice chips blue and told Karson to chew and swallow. You could tell he loved the sensation of something back in his mouth but didn't know what to do with it for a moment. He chewed and swallowed and did well for a little while. Then as time went on he started coughing and aspirated some of the liquid in his lungs so that tells us that he is not quite ready to take out the trache. We will keep on doing swallow tests so that he will be able to get better at it. He loves Creamies so I told them as soon as he passes all the swallow tests with flying colors, he can have his first Creamie. We got a lot accomplished when we had him at the hospital. There were many specialists that looked at him and gave us advice on what they thought would work to help Karson. The main goal right now is to get him over this bad infection. Love to ALL.
