DAY 118
Karson got to sit in the sun for the first time today and he just closed his eyes and took it all in. He really enjoyed himself. We will do it as much as we can so that he can soak up some of that vitamin D and not just lay in his room day in and day out. I am reading this book about a lady that was in a coma and came out of it but couldn't move so that no one but her sister, that was close to her, knew that she was in there. I asked a CEO of a hospital about this and she said that it does exist. It is called Lock-In Syndrome. I told her that Karson can respond to me by blinking his eyes, moving his legs upon request, and swallowing when I ask. She thinks that he might have this and to look at it further. I told her that I thought that he is waking up a little more everyday. She said that coma patients are all like this. They go in and out of consciensness (sp). Wyatt, one of his best friends, came to visit him yesterday and that is when I saw him want to get up and walk out of that bed that he has been in for almost 4 months. Karson is going to win this battle and be a better person for it. He wants to win and is showing it by defeating all these infections and obstacles that he overcomes daily. Thank you for sending our family and Karson your prayers, love and support. It is paying off.

I hope that Karson can remain healthy enough to come out of this coma, it sounds like he really is trying hard! Your family should watch The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. It is about a man with Locked-in Syndrome. Thinking and praying for you all!
ReplyDeleteSusan I NOW he is in there! I have seen it a couple of times for sure. He is going to be OK and he is going to tell us some wild stuff! I love you Karson, and I am going to keep staring at your beautiful eyes looking for every sign I can. I KNOW you are there. I will keep praying for your body to heal enough for you to use it.
ReplyDeleteLove Always,
Lynette
Sounds like a great week. It is so good to see that you are progressing and getting some of the nice sunshine. It is truly amazing how good it is to have some "Vitamin D". Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYou are all in our prayers.
Sending lot of love to you all!

Karson,
ReplyDeleteYour mom is right you are going to win this battle. We just know you can do it. Grandma King, Mindy and I stopped by on Thursday but you looked so comfortable sleeping and we didn't want to bother you. Keep up the good work. We love you.
