Day 97
Karson is having his front tooth removed because he has loosen it with all the grinding. Our dentist is afraid that if we don't remove it, it will cause an infection and he doesn't need that right now. In talking to our dentist, he said this is very common with brain injuries and other teeth might need to be extracted. When Karson is aware enough to finally take a look in the mirror and remember what he looked like, he is going to wonder where his teeth and lower lip went. Good thing there are good plastic surgeons and capable dentists out there to fix problems like these. Other than that, he has been pretty calm and tired these past few days. He has done well on the speaking valve and his neck rash is improving. He has lost about 80 lbs. through this whole ordeal. He told me before this happened that he wanted to lose weight and quit smoking. Well, he has done both....maybe the hard way but he has met his goals. Thanks for all your support and love. I know I say that all the time but really, if you knew how much it meant to us to have you all always thinking and praying for all of us....it makes it so much easier to know you all are pulling for Karson's recovery. LOVE LOVE LOVE

I'm so glad you have this blog to keep us updated. Y'all are always on our minds and in our hearts. Just wish I was there to give you a hug. I had planned to do so. Lisa said it was snowing in Park City and that sounded so good to us sweltering in this unbearable Georgia summer heat. However, Randall had to have emergency eye surgery and cannot fly or go to high altitudes for awhile. So we are home bound. I'll just have to big you a big cyber-hug {}
ReplyDeleteLove y'all!

Hi Karson,

Remember to breath. breath in all of the healing energy that so many are sending your way, breath in the love that surrounds you and your family, breath in the courage and strength to heal. You are a special man and the world has a lot to learn from you. You can and will recover. Your support system is strong and waiting for you to wake and begin the next phase of your life. I believe in you.
With Love,

Thanks for updating the blog! I saw Kass the other day and she told me how you've been. Sounds like it has been hard work, but you are doing so great! I was at my parents (Hammond's) the other day and we were talking about some of the fun memories we have you and your family. I remember swimming at RCC on the swim team (you always shared your doughnuts with me!), playing hockey on the sports court, putting Kassie in the hammock and roasting her over a fake fire and playing night games. You were always so fun as a kid and we loved playing with your family. Hang in the Karson, you've got so many people who are hoping you will come back to us soon. Love you Susan, Kass, Karissa and Mike, you guys hang in there too!

Hi Karson, I'm praying for you and your family to stay strong. Get better soon so your awesome mother can relax and get some real sleep. Susan I am thinking of you and how hard this must be for you. I truly love you guys. Karen Arambulo
ReplyDeleteDear Peterson Family: I work for a periodontist, and know what the grinding and clenching of teeth can do over time (not to mention smoking.) These are the things that keep a periodontist in business! You are right Susan, when you say that there are capable dentists to take care of these problems. Teeth implants are absolutely wonderful these days, and you wouldn't be able to tell who has their natural teeth and who has implants! Soooo, when Kars wakes up, you tell him not to stress. Those miracle workers, called periodontists, will make him look just as handsome as he was before the extraction! We pray for each one of you, and know of your incredible strength, love and commitment to your son. We are grateful that you have such a wonderful team of family members, friends, doctors and nurses who care about Karson and his recovery as well. I know I say it often, but your posts are a great blessing for us. Karson is special to so many people. His buddy Bryan is having a bit of a hard time, and I think he isn't able to handle seeing him right now. We had a tragedy in our family several years ago, about this time, and I think it just weighs too heavily on him. Please know that he loves Karson and believes in his recovery, as we all do. Be good to yourselves too! With love, Carrie B. and Family
ReplyDeleteSusan! I am SO sorry that I have not been there for you! YOU have been so instrumental in my life. When the kids were little, I could always count on you being some one that wanted to do thing WITH the kids FOR the kids!!! As time went on and I lost that sense of what mattered in life, it was you that took me to lunch, and left me KNOWING that my living-in-the-Marriott all over the planet job was NOT exactly what my kids needed from me, And now I'm in my 7th year as a Special Ed teacher -no glam, but by far the most rewarding profession i've EVER had. YOU have ALWAYS been able to touch my heart and show me that our kids matter most. It's a lesson that swallows easy on your spoon.
ReplyDeleteSo now I find myself devastated in knowing that you are dealing with SO much, and I was oblivious!
I think you have been a phenomenal mother, and have worked hard to find that tricky balance in your life.Your love and devotion to family are exemplary. Karson's knowledge of your love for him will carry him through his hardest days, I love you SO much, and you will be constantly in my thoughts and prayers.
Karson. you've always been able to pull it off! I'm counting on it!
Karson,
ReplyDeleteWe are missing you very much! And I know Dustin want's to get you out on the golf course very soon, he thinks about you every time he hits the links. We keep you and your incredible family in our thoughts and prayers every day and night. We hope to make it down to Provo before we get married in only 22 days!!! We miss you and cannot wait to see you soon. Love you
Dustin and Peggy
Susan, It is day 100 and I am coming over later this afternoon. Karson, I am excited to see you. I haven't seen you since Karissa's wedding. You were so handsome in your tuxedo. We talked about you studying Engineering -my Dad and some of my brothers are engineers. I think you said you wanted to be a Civil Engineer. I am praying for you every day. MANY times a day. So many people love you Karson. You have our hearts. We are all connected in this universe, and I am sending you every ounce of positive energy that I can muster. I love you and I love your family. You have the best mom in the world, so I know you are in good hands. If anyone can recover Karson, then I know it is possible for you. I pray that you will be as pain-free as possible, and that you will have a deep feeling of peace surround you as you surrender to the healing process. Your body is young, and it is strong. You come from a long line of VERY strong people. You have the strength and courage of their blood coursing through your blood and every fibre of your DNA. Your unique DNA is unlike that of any other person. It is powerful. It is rich with healing properties. Ignite those healing powers Karson. Feel peace surround you. Relax and allow your body to repair. If you could form in your mamas womb from one egg, and one sperm, and grow in 9 months to become a complete, whole, and healthy child, then you can unlock the potential within you to relax again, like a babe in your mamas womb, allow your body to heal, and begin the process of being whole. You are loved.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting your tooth removed. We continue to pray for all of you. Love you all!
ReplyDeleteKarson- Hey bud I hope you wake up soon. Your nap has been way to long it is time to wake up and get back to yourself. I have missed seeing your little posts on facebook and hearing about what you are up to. Keep being strong. I think and pray for you and your family. Just please wake up. Susan thank you for being so strong and amazing through all of this you are a great example to me. Remember you can alway pray for comfort no matter where you are. I am praying for you and your family. Sure do love you all!!
ReplyDeleteLove, Melissa Farmer
You are probably about sick of my comments but I always have to put my "two cents" in. I really don't know what that means. Grandpa always use to say that. Anyway, we are sure missing you so much. You have been through enough and now it is time to be finished with all of this. We know that you are trying very hard. Always remember that you are a very special person with many who love you. Wishing for the best for you and your wonderful family.
