DAY 105

Karson is still making small improvements everyday which we are so grateful for. He has developed thrush in his mouth from the football mouth guard so he is being treated for that. He is dehydrated because he sweats so much, therefore, they have increased his water intake. I wondered why he had been so tired and the lack of water was the reason. He is able to respond to me with his eyes. I ask him questions and if the answer is yes he really blinks his eyes. He has my father eyes. The blue eyes run in the King family. I know that my father has been a real instrument in getting Karson where he is right now. He was always so close to Karson. Karson was on the the speaking valve for almost 2 hours today and they got him sitting up on the side of his bed, with assistance, so that he could stretch out his muscles and remember what it feels like to sit up. Karson has had many visitors this week. Thank you all for coming. I talked to Jesse Scotts (the one that had been in a coma for 73 days) mom and she told me that Jesse could remember everyone that had been by to see him when he was in the coma. He said that it really meant a lot to him to see that so many people loved and cared for his recovery. Love to ALL.

  2. Karson,
That King + Peterson DNA combination is the perfect mix, and YOU got it! You have such a powerful combination of strength running through every strand of DNA in your body. On top of that, with your Grandpa King watching over you from the other side, you have EVERYTHING you need in place to recover! You formed in your beautiful mama's womb from that same combination of perfect King & Peterson DNA. You just let that DNA take over and turn you back into that perfect Karson Peterson again!

I have a friend named Jeanel that has a very aggressive type of breast cancer called Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC). She is married and has 3 little boys. This cancer does not form a lump that can be detected. Instead, it grows in sheets. Her husband is a doctor and so is her dad. Nobody knew she had it. One day she saw a rash on her breast, and by the next day her breast had a very large bruise on it. She went immediately to the Dr., but it was already stage 4 cancer. She is strong-minded though (LIKE YOU KARSON!), and has been fighting it off successfully. She also uses a blog to document her battle. One day she made a list of all the things she is grateful for. It is REALLY powerful to read that someone fighting a battle for life is grateful for so much. I am posting her gratitude list here just to give you something to think about.

Her blog can be found at http://www.jsfight.blogspot.com/ if you need to read about someone else that has been through the ups and downs of fighting for her life.

Anyway, here is the gratitude list she posted.

 I am grateful for laundry because it means my kids have clothes to wear.
 I am grateful for dishes because it means we have food to eat.
 I am grateful for my husband being gone because it means he has a job and can support our family.
 I am grateful for picking up because it means my kids have toys to play with.
 I am grateful for feeling a little sick after my treatment because it means I have modern medicine to help fight the cancer.
 I am grateful for the noise in my house because it means I have three little boys to love.
 I am grateful for the door that is left open because it means my boys have a safe place to play.
 I am grateful for the price tag at the pump because it means I have a car to drive.
 I am grateful for balancing holiday time with our families because it means my husband was raised by loving parents.
 I am grateful for the alarm clock because it means I need to go to the gym to take care of myself.
 I am grateful for the toothpaste on the counter because it means some must have made it onto their toothbrush.
 I am grateful for my monthly trips to Seattle because it means I get to spend time with someone I love while hopefully keeping my cancer at bay.

"Things in our life may not always be how we would like, but we have the opportunity to find the bright side and let it be our focus."

Karson, I want to add that even though it is hard, I am grateful for the tears I have cried for you, and the prayers I have said for you, because it reminds me that I have people in my life that I LOVE!!!
