Yesterday, Karson and my parents had an amazing visitor. Her name is Laurie Scott and her 18 year old son, Jessie, was in a coma for 73 days after a horrible prescription mistake. Jessie had strep throat and was prescribed oxycodine by his doctor. Laurie went to Walmart to get the prescription filled and was given the undiluted medication which was 100 times the prescribed dosage. Jessie took the amount labeled on the bottle and fell asleep. Four hours later Laurie went to check on him and he was blue. You can google "jessie scott and ksl" to find out more about his story.
It has been two years since this accident and he is doing very well. He is starting to learn to walk again and remembers everything. She said, Karson is doing a lot more than Jessie did at this same time. And that Jessie remembered almost everything from when he was in his coma. He remembered his mom saying, "I love you" and "wake up". So we know Karson hears us and all of you that has visited him, thank you so much!!!
Karson had an amazing day yesterday, he was moving so much and has been trying to sit up on his own. When my dad talks to him on one side he turns his head to that side and then when my mom talks to him on the other side, he moves his head to that side. He is sleeping so lightly now and we know he is going to wake up any day now. If anybody has any fun memories of Karson will you please email them to me? (karissabeckman@yahoo.com) I am going to put them all in a book for him and I am sure he would love to hear them!

Karson, we love you!!

Thanks for posting about Laurie and the experience of her and her son. I know that we all refuse to give up on Karson, and that he won't give up either. But it's always nice to know of those reasons that help solidify the hope we keep. Keep up the hard work, Karson. You're still in my thoughts every day! All my love to the whole family!

Just talked to Grandma King and she said you looked so good today. I was out working in my yard this morning and as I was digging in the dirt I was thinking about you and your family the whole time. I just couldn't get you off my mind. It was so good to read the blog and find the positive news there. Karson, we know you are a fighter. You have so many loved ones who have faith in you. Always know you are in our thoughts and prayers. XOXO Love, Aunt Lana
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you are doing better. We were going to come by today, but just didn't get the chance. I hope we can come by soon. We love you all! :D
ReplyDeleteTryin' to come see you this afternoon buddy. Hang in there and you'll be fine. Initiation week starts today up at the house. The Jazz beat the Nuggets in round 1, game 2; the series is 1-1. I took my motorcycle out on Miller Motorsports Park last weekend and had the best time of my life. I'll tell you more when I get down there.

So happy to hear that you are doing better Kars! I have been explaining to my boys about who you are and I was sharing with them how we used to come over and watch you and the girls when you were little and lived in Richfield. You and I were really good pals then, and I told them about some of the fun times and things we would do. We luv ya buddy, and want you to know we are pulling for you. Thanks to Karissa for keeping us up to date on the happenings and how you are doing.

Karson,
ReplyDeleteI haven't had the chance to get to know you as well as an "adult" as I would like to. Living far away from family is sometimes hard. However, I do owe my diaper changing skills to you. I remember one time I was watching you and the girls. I had never changed a diaper before. Back then the diaper straps were really sticky! And you were really wiggly. I went through about 15 before I got it on straight. The next time it only took me about 7 trys to get it right. I know I confessed to your mom, years later of course. She probably wondered what happened to all the diapers. Thanks for that funny memory! You're an awesome person and I know you will pull through this just fine. Love ya, The Black Mindy
